May 1, 2020: Kane County Farmland Assessment Review Committee to meet and hold public hearing on May 18  
The Kane County Farmland Assessment Review Committee will meet on May 18, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. in the Auditorium of Building A of the Kane County Government Center. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a public hearing on the proposed 2021 farmland assessment values proposed by the Illinois Department of Revenue and the Farmland Assessment Technical Advisory Board.  The meeting agenda may be viewed at www.kanecountyassessments.org/FarmlandAgenda20200518.pdf.

Members of the public wishing to offer testimony may do so in person by attending the meeting; via telephone during the meeting, or in writing to the committee via the contact us link.  Anyone attending the meeting in person is subject to COVID-19 screening procedures (including having temperature taken) and must wear personal protective equipment as required by Gubernatorial Executive Order 2020-32.

April 13, 2020: Kane County Assessment Office resumes essential functions  
After consultation with the Kane County Health Department, the Assessment Office has resumed essential functions in order to maintain the property tax cycle.  For the safety of the employees and the general public, the following restrictions will be in place until the “stay at home” order is lifted or expires:

  • For public health reasons, we cannot accept any visitors or hand-delivered documents at this time; all interaction must be via
  • Taxpayers submitting exemption applications should mail them to:

  • Essential employees are provided personal protective equipment, are screened daily for COVID-19 contact and symptoms, and are working staggered schedules so that there are never more than seven persons in the office at the same time.

    March 20, 2020: Special note regarding COVID-19 protocols  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergency order to stay at home, the Kane County Assessment Office will be closed to in-person visits and telephone calls beginning Monday, March 23, 2020 and continuing until the end of the stay at home directive.

    Limited service is available at www.KaneCountyAssessments.org through the Contact Us link Upon the conclusion of the stay at home directive, the office will reopen to telephone service; personal visits to the Kane County Assessment Office will resume once Health officials deem it safe to do so.

    March 16, 2020: Special note regarding COVID-19 protocols In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the Kane County Assessment Office will be closed to in-person traffic except by appointment only until further notice.  The office will remain open for telephone calls and on-line business.

    Taxpayers having business with the Office must first:

    All assistance will be provided via telephone or email unless an office visit is necessary.  If it is determined an office visit is necessary, visitors must come individually by appointment only; all visits are subject to pre-screening questions determined by the Kane County Health Department.

    March 13, 2020: Special note regarding COVID-19 protocols While it is not required, many senior taxpayers come to County or Township Assessment Offices to file an application for the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption in person, encountering large crowds of people. In response to the COVID-19 virus and recommendations for “social distancing”, this deadline will be extended July 1 to October 1, 2020.

    Additionally, please note that while state law requires the application to be notarized, you do not need to come to the County Assessment office have it notarized. Any notary public can witness the signature of the applicant. After it is complete, signed, and notarized, the application can be filed:

    • By mail to 719 Batavia Avenue, Geneva, Illinois 60134; or
    • By fax to 630-208-3824.

    January 9, 2020: 2020 Exemption Form Mailing Dates and Additional Information

    • Persons with Disabilities Homestead Exemption Forms are scheduled to be mailed out February 3, 2020. The form will be available here at that time also. Please contact our office if you need the exemption form for 2019.
    • Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption Forms are scheduled to be mailed out March 18, 2020. This form will be available here on April 3, 2020. Please click here for 2019 form.
    • Veterans with Disabilities Homestead Exemption Forms are scheduled to be mailed out May 1, 2020. This form will be available here on June 1, 2020. Please contact our office if you need the exemption form for 2019.
